Don Gustavson has been a Nevada resident for more than
forty two years; he has three children and eight grandchildren.
He remembers a time when nobody locked their doors-they
didn't need to. When we greeted strangers it was with
friendship, not suspicion. It was a time when "controlled
substances" in schools meant chewing gum, not drugs;
and school violence involved a playground scuffle, not
automatic weapons.
Don believes that decreasing crime and violence begins
by increasing personal responsibility. No excuses. No
easy-outs. People must take responsibility for their
own actions. He supports victim's rights-making criminals
pay back their victims
